On Friday 23rd October we held our first Fundraising Quiz Night at the Milton Rooms – who very generously gave us the venue for the event free of charge!
The evening kicked off with a viewing of our Virtual Tour, for all attendees to see what YMCA Ryedale actually looks like and the work we do – there were many ‘aahhhs’ when Wilf made his screen debut, and a round of applause from the audience when the film ended.
14 teams joined in the fun, with Quiz Master Chris doing a fantastic job of keeping the event running smoothly. We had 6 rounds of questions, written by Lisa and Chris, along with a ‘name the cocktail’ picture round. There were a few grumbles about some of the questions being too hard……. but the evening was essentially filled with happiness and laughter.
Many local businesses donated raffle prizes for the evening, including Kemps General Store & Bookshop, Plum Malton, Hoppers of Malton, Number One Health & Beauty, Deventio Wines, Brass Castle Taphouse, Flamingoland, Dalby Forest, Piglets Adventure Farm and North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
The winning team ‘The Undecided’ won a Prize Hamper full of goodies!
In all, we raised £400 on the night – not bad for a first attempt – all money raised will go directly to benefiting our residents.
